Prehistoric bog garden at Queen's Park

About

Our bog gardens showcase some of the plants and animals that were around when dinosaurs roamed the earth. They were created to celebrate Dippy the dinosaur's visit to Rochdale from February to June 2020, as part of his UK tour.

With tranquil gardens and a picturesque lake for visitors to enjoy, Queen’s Park is not only a Green Flag Park, it's also a great day out for all the family.

What are bog gardens?

Bog gardens exist naturally in low lying areas or around ponds, streams or lakes.

The permanently waterlogged soil helps to protect the environment by providing a valuable habitat for a range of animals.

Do I need to book?

No, you can visit the bog gardens any time.

Visit our other prehistoric bog garden

There are 2 bog gardens across the borough of Rochdale. You can visit our other bog garden at Truffet Park, Bowness, Langley, Middleton M24 4WT.
